LYRICS & SONGS :
"Shine a light "
Something i listened to on Paul May's site , it had a real haunting feeling to it.
I set about writing a song that was about a couple trying to reknidle the feelings they had for each other. Then came the title " Shine a light " - as in shine the light of attention back to where it all started and back to how they felt.
I was a bit stuck inbetween the chorus element and then whilst taking a break I started playing with sounds .... doo doo's , Lah lah and that type of thing , only to remember a favourite Simon and Garfunkel song ( The boxer ) la la li...
that was pretty much that.

Sunshine and the rain
Written within about thirty minutes of hearing it for the first time, I instantly conected with this song as I have done with so many of Paul May's , he is a great song writer and it allows someone like me, a great opportunity to write a counter melody.
The song is basically about the way some relationships unravel without reading the signs or realising whats happening,
" Something came undone " is a line that highlights this. The element of sunshine and rain , is something that is meant to refer to the elements of the relationship , some good , some bad.
I like the fact that the content of the lyrics are of a serious nature but it's set to a quite upbeat track, The more I write , the more I like to achieve this.
Some prople will relate to the music , others will relate to the words - how bad can that be ?

Candy Sweet.
This song has taken months to come to a close , written in about four states and three diffent countries, it was an internet collaboration with Newton Bach. A great , great talent.
Wriiten on a Sunday night, recorded over several months.
Each element is individually recorded by the artists in their own country and then it was finally mastered at Abbey Road - yep , that abbey road.
The guy's were fantastic and so supportive.
It's a positive song about love - I don't do those often lol. The lyrics really were based around the title I heard in my head.

Stay strong " Is a love song ,pure and simple. just because you fall out of love , doesn't mean that
you never want to go back and do the same again. I discovered a beautiful song on Paul Mc's site
called " Waving hand " and one morning as I lay in
bed listening and decided to write some lyrics to it. Fifteen minutes later it was complete on a
series of post it notes.
rare for me not to change lyrics but only a few words changed " where ever darkness ends " became " when ever dark decends " a small twist but the darkness ends part seemed a bit sinister and was
a bit too dark for the song. The uplifting part of the song is the bridge. It's a hopeful tune with gentle words but unfortunately it never received the credit on soundclick I thought it should have. Paul's playing of this song is sublime , It's a tune that has all the hall marks of a classic when he plays it. For me , it's as good a song as the Beatles "Blackbird "
" Just around the corner " Collaboration with LeRhay on soundclick. These lyrics were three years old , had almost been forgotten about. There was a version of this song before by Two composers but I never really liked the direction it went.
I always thought it would be Piano or guitar and LeRhay delivered. It's a song about a series of unhappy times when you are just waiting to catch your break. You know in your heart that it can't last forever a
nd that you'll find happiness again.
" You already know" originally a collab by Paul and Lisa Lepack called the Answer , as soon
as I heard it , I wanted to record it, I later joked to Paul that I had started working on lyrics to it
and was singing it around the house , Paul then said Ok , do a version.
Written in half an Hour from start to finish on the way back from a meal in a very bouncy car -
(check the shocks will ya lol)
I had the idea a week or Two before about someone having to say they loved someone all the
time , when really the person should have known all along. It's not about me for a change , so I assumed the role. Within Two days, the track became a UK number One on the internet and again Two weeks later.
" Watch over me as I sleep " A lyric that had gathered some dust in a drawer , originally called watch me as I sleep , an
uptempo little number in my head. I gave Paul the lyric and the whole song changed dramatically and for the better.
I went back into it and immediately changed the lyrics to suit the piece, Has a real atmosphere to it. Basically a love song
about being protected and feeling safe with someone watching over you. Again Paul's vision is beautiful.
" Loving leaves me Blue " Picked this song up from Paul's site again , originally a collab between Paul Mc and
Fran Carr called " Walking the line " and before that " Rush hour " I decided it had to be gritty but with a soft edge. The
lyrics lean heavily towards an earlier composition that I penned called " Love turned Blue " that never became anything and in
all honesty , I consider this song , lyrically, to be one of the best that I've completed , the flow of the lines and the experience of six months solid writting have made this a better track.
It's my first Blues track and I love the music , Paul does a mean blues guitar.
" Let me be " A lyric that I sent to Paul inbetween us working on other things , He had written the music in
around forty minutes from his initial email. It's a fabulous piece of music and clearly illustrates his talent as a song writer.
The lyrics are based on experience of being with someone who doesn't know how to committ to a relationship , you just want
them to get onboard or to let you go. Favourite lines from the bridge " Cant go on this way for ever , be there at your beck
and call , until the day you decide to set me free or catch my fall "
I'll obviously update this part from time to time , hope you found it of interest and that you keep up to date with what I'm up to via my website or soundclick site.
