Paul McIlwaine Guitarist/Producer/Songwriting
Biography

Paul has been involved in music all his life as a child he was a part of a number of youth orchestra’s before discovering rock music as a teenager. Paul was a founder member of Belfast new wave band The Tearjerkers who were signed to Belfast’s Good Vibrations label before signing for Polygram’s Back Door label in 1979. After scoring several minor hits the band toured with acts including Thin Lizzy and Dexy’s Midnight Runners. The Tearjerkers recorded sessions for Radio Ones John Peel Show on two occasions and also for Dave Fanning’s show on RTE.
After the breakup of the Tearjerkers, Paul was involved with several popular local groups including Etc Etc, Blue Rhythm and the Bob Dawson Big Band. Taking a break from commercial music during the nineties Paul has returned to the music scene in 2002 founding Belfast’s Rhythm Revue and started his own small recording studio ‘Wonderland’.
Paul is now involved in songwriting and production with artists from USA, Canada and the UK. Paul’s has formed a songwriting partnership with Anna Lang (UK), their songs regularly top the charts on www.soundclick.com were they have attracted a regular fan base and audience. Paul comfortably produces a diverse range of music in the genres of blues, nu jazz, Americana, roots, rock and indie; he has recently been acknowledged as artist of the month at www.littleknownblues.com in November 2008.
